Nocmea
OVERVIEW
Nocmea [Nock-mey-YAH] (Singular: Nocmea) (adj. Nocmean) are a hybrid species produced by a Gannea sire and a Nocmyr dam.
- Nocmea are rather rare in society– as it wasn’t always commonly known that Nocmyr and Gannea could reproduce together.
- Nocmea are crepescular.
- Nocmea are omnivorous.
- Nocmea are mesotherms.
- Female Nocmea begin their menstrual cycle at 150 years of age and ovulate once every 5 years. The gestation period is a decade.
- Nocmea are born in their True form.
- Nocmea display any Nocmyri or Gannean traits and mutations.
ANATOMY
Nocmea have two forms, their Draconian form and their True form, with the ability to shift between them with ease.
Draconian Forms
Nocmea naturally have four legs and two wings, but their anatomy varies greatly by subtype.
- Nocmea inherit their wings from their Nocmyri dam– and will display any of the three types of Nocmyri wings– Feathered, Chimera, or Membrane.
subtypes
western
- The most similar to their ancestral species, the Western Nocmea are lean, strong, and have a long, stiff tail. They have an athletic build and the largest muscle to body fat ratio in all forms. They’re able to respond and adapt to most climates. They’re most concentrated in the Western Hemisphere.
eastern
- Thin, with an elongated body and long legs, the Eastern Nocmea are built for speed. They have large wings and a deep chest cavity for sustained and high altitude flight. They have a long, whiplike tail. They have a tall, narrow frame and very little body fat in both forms. They’re most concentrated in the Eastern Hemisphere.
northern
- The Northern Nocmea are broad-shouldered, barrel-chested, and muscular, with a thicker tail. They’re the largest subtype, an example of polar gigantism. They have a tall frame and have large amounts of fat and muscle in all forms. They’re most concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere.
southern
- The Southern Nocmea are small and fat. Their tails are the same length as a standard, except they store large amounts of fat to withstand long periods of time without eating or drinking. They are short and fat in all forms. They’re most concentrated in the Southern Hemisphere.
Marine
- With gills, stout, cylindrical bodies, thick legs with webbed digits, and a sturdy paddlelike tail, Marine Nocmea are built for swimming. They inhabit waters all over the globe, although they tend to prefer warm coastal regions to make their kingdoms.
True Forms
Nocmea true forms are similar to their Nocmea parent in body types.
- Nocmea are sexually dimorphic; having male and female sexes like their Nocmyr parent.
- Nocmea have nipples and a belly button.
- Nocmea can grow fur, hair, or feathers on their bodies
- Nocmea can display any human phenotype.
- Nocmea ears and tails are highly mobile and expressive! They have extremely good hearing.
aging and growth
Nocmea can live up to 1,250 years. Nocmea age rapidly and then slow down past 250. Ganyra celebrate their birthdays every 5 Gallan sub-years. *5 Gallan sub-years is 10 Sialla months.
- Nocmea Age/12.5 = human equivalent (Ex. 500/12.5 = 40 human years).
- Nocmea come of age at 200 years (equivalent 20 human years).
- Nocmea become infertile at 1,000 years (equivalent 80 human years).
- Nocmea’s true form will continue to grow until 300 years of age (equivalent 40 human years).
- Nocmea’s draconic form will continue to grow until 500 years of age (equivalent 67 human years).
- Nocmea’s maximum height in True form is 9’. They grow an average of 3 inches per 7.5 years.
- Nocmea’s maximum height in draconic form at the shoulder is 20’. They grow an average of 15 inches per 7.5 years.
