Nocmyr AGING AND GROWTH
Return to Nocmyr Species Directory
Nocmyr have extended life spans compared to their Earthen ancestors, and can live up to 1,500 Sialla years. Due to this, Nocmyr age rapidly for their first 250 years of life and slow down afterwards. Nocmyr are born in their true form. Nocmyr celebrate their birthnights once every 2 sub-years. *2 Nosalli sub-years are 10 Sialla months. Nocmyr shed their skin once a Nosalli month until the age of 250, and then once every 5 Nosalli months.
aging
- Nocmyr Age/15 = human equivalent (Ex. 500/7.5 = 33 human years).
- Nocmyr come of age at 200 years (equivalent 20 human years).
- Nocmyr become infertile at 1,250 years (equivalent 83 human years).
- Nocmyr females begin menstruating at 150 and ovulate once every 10 years.
growth
- Nocmyr’s true form will continue to grow until 500 years of age (equivalent 40 human years).
- Nocmyr’s half form will continue to grow until 750 years of age (equivalent 53 human years).
- Nocmyr’s draconic form will continue to grow until 1,000 years of age (equivalent 67 human years).
- Nocmyr’s maximum height in true form is 9’. They grow an average of 3 inches per 7.5 years.
- Nocmyr’s maximum height in half form is 12’. They grow an average of 9 inches per 7.5 years.
- Nocmyr’s maximum height in draconic form at the shoulder is 20’. They grow an average of 15 inches per 7.5 years.
calendar
Nocmyr keep a separate calendar, the Nosalli calendar, than the standard Sialli calendar, due to their shorter life span.
As stated previously, Siablan takes 54 hours to rotate on its tilted axis, with a 3 hour dawn, 24 hour day, 3 hour dusk, and 24 hour night. Siablan takes 50 Earth-years to orbit its sun.
*Siablan’s moons do not wax and wane at the same time. Siablan measures its moon cycles by its largest and closest moon, Paera.
- The Nosalli calendar divides the 50 Earth-years of a single orbital year into 2 sub-years.
- Each sub-year is divided into 25 months.
- Each month contains 5 full moon cycles, and each moon cycle of 48 days (6 nights of each 8 phases).
- Each moon constitutes 1 moon cycle, making 48 days per moon.
- Each moon constitutes 8 weeks, of 6 days each.
- Its seasons each last for 12.5 Earth-years, or 0.5 sub-years, or 12.5 moons, or 100 weeks, or 600 days.
- Nocmyr celebrate the spring and fall equinoxes and summer and winter solstices. The Spring Equinox is a tribute to East, the Summer Solstice a tribute to South, the Fall Equinox a tribute to West, and the Winter Solstice a tribute to North.
YOUNG
Nocmyr are born in their true forms.
- A Nocmyr first shifts between their forms as a toddler. It is an innate ability that takes practice. They are roughly the size of a small dog in their draconian form. A Nocmyr’s half and draconian form may grow gangly and awkward.
- Nocmyr filaments grow in at the same rate as a human child’s hair grows in. A Nocmyr may be born with or without hair. Nocmyr babies are scaly and squishy.
- Nocmyr periodically regrow their teeth throughout their lives. They fall out regularly as children. They regularly shed claw caps.
- Nocmyr young are raised in large, multigenerational families. There may be 10-30 Nocmyr in one household, all raising the same children. Nocmyr grow up with many siblings, half-siblings, step-siblings, and cousins.
