Adult Nocmyr are powerful and dangerous.

defenses

They’re stealth predators and primarily kill their prey with a crushing bite. They are adept at aerial combat. Due to their smaller true forms, they are effective fighters with melee weapons as well as in their draconian form. Large projectile weapons, such as spears or scorpion bolts, are their weakness. Flaming arrows may be effective as well, unless the Nocmyr possesses the Fireproof Scales mutation.

Bite
  • Nocmyr jaws can exert 5,000-7,500 pounds PSI of bite force. Biting is the primary attack of Nocmyr. A good bite can shatter crystals, break through armored scales, and crunch bone. Nocmyr teeth are characterized by their ziphodonty, serrated like those of theropods. 
Claws
  • Nocmyr claws are extremely sharp and strong, and can tear scales from the flesh. Their hind dewclaws are sickle-shaped and used for holding down prey and opponents.
horns
  • A Nocmyr may ram an opponent with their horns.
dermal growths
  • A Nocmyr may have thick, armored scales, osteoderms, scutes, or sharp spines that protect its body, or be used in attacks, such as a thagomizer.
magical ability
  • A Nocmyr may use any of the four magic types in combat.

Nocmyr are capable of 5 types of Magic.

Shifting
  • Shifting is the inherent method by which Crysalla change their form from quadrupedal to bipedal. The act of shifting is related to the cosmology of the universe. Every living mortal soul has a physical body on the physical plane and a soul, tethered to them on the parallel metaphysical plane. A Nocmyr’s soul in the metaphysical plane will reflect their opposing form, and shifting is the act of switching out their two forms. The act of tucking one’s wings in the bipedal form is a form of shifting, as it hides the wings in the “pocket” of the metaphysical plane.
innate magic
  • Innate magic cannot be manipulated easily. It can often be released unintentionally when feeling strong emotions, and comes in a burst of energy, not a spell. An example would be telekinesis, releasing a blast of power that will knock anyone and anything back, or healing a wound shut.
learned magic
  • Learned magic is spoken through Sialli or Nosalli spells. It can be conducted in any way. An example would be enchanting a figurine to move on its own, making an object teleport, or summoning an object.
disciplinary magic
  • Disciplinary magic is a combination of innate and learned magic, however it does not use spells. All Nocmyr have the ability to learn how to conduct disciplinary magic, if they are taught to do so. Disciplinary magic is very difficult to perform, and requires mental acuity. An example would be telepathy, mind control, or divination.
elemental magic
  • Elemental magic is the result of a mutation in a Nocmyr’s magical genes. It is innate, but must be studied and practiced diligently in order to master. This most commonly manifests in various elemental affinities or abilities. An example would be elemental manipulation, such as breathing fire, frostbreath, or light burst.
    • There are nine magical elements. Light, Nature, Ice, Air, Water Earth, Fire, Plague, and Dark. These elements can be manipulated by Nocmyr with mutations, and there are nine other magical mutations that correspond to them.
